Nous sommes fiers de vous présenter notre sélec­tion de cinq artistes, chois­is par notre jury de pro­fes­sion­nels de la musique. Ils par­ti­cip­eront aux deux work­shops à Nantes (novembre 2019) et Athènes (fév­ri­er 2020). Cinq artistes aux par­cours différents pour cinq ambi­ances : du folk à la Bon Iver de Mar­tin Balt­ser (DK) à la cold wave de l’anglaise Alice Hubble en passant par la new soul de J‑Silk (FR), la R’N’B classieux de Simone Tang (UK) et le piano classique et mod­erne de Marta Cas­cales Alimbau (ES).

We’re proud to present you our five-artist selec­tion, chosen by our jury of music pro­fes­sion­als. They will attend both our work­shops in Nantes (Novem­ber 2019) and Athens (Feb­ru­ary 2020), meet new people, play music and learn all sort of stuff. Alice Hubble (UK)

Alice Hubble est le pro­jet solo d’Alice Hub­ley, et ses chan­sons sont ce qui arrive quand une femme s’en­fer­me chez elle avec son énorme col­lec­tion de syn­thétiseurs. Le premi­er album ‘Polar­lichter’ est né de la volonté de trav­ailler sur un pro­jet sans con­traintes, de s’éloign­er du pro­ces­sus d’écrit­ure tra­di­tion­nel et d’ex­péri­menter la forme. Inspirée par les enre­gis­tre­ments des années 70 de Tan­ger­ine Dream, Ashra et Mike Old­field, Alice souhaite adop­ter une approche plus délic­ate et une inter­préta­tion nette­ment fémin­ine du son de syn­thé pro­gres­sif des années 70.

Alice Hubble is the pro­ject of Alice Hub­ley and the product of one lady locked at home with her vast col­lec­tion of syn­thes­isers. The album ‘Polar­lichter’ was born out of a desire to work on a pro­ject without con­straints, to move away from the tra­di­tion­al song writ­ing pro­cess and to exper­i­ment with the form. Inspired by the 70’s record­ings by Tan­ger­ine Dream, Ashra and even Mike Old­field, Alice wanted to take a more del­ic­ate approach; a dis­tinctly fem­in­ine take on often pom­pous 70’s pro­gress­ive synth sound.

J‑Silk (J‑Silk, FR)

J‑Silk, un trio «Future Soul» Bor­deaux-Lon­dres, a sorti son deux­ième EP le 30 mars 2018. Ils font partie de la scène musicale actuelle qui fusionne hip-hop, pop et élec­tro, comme The Inter­net, Ander­son Paak, Little Dragon, James Blake, etc. J‑Silk est un col­lage Neo-Soul de vestes vin­tage Adi­das, de syn­thétiseurs ana­lo­giques, de rythmes hip-hop et d’une voix excep­tion­nelle et sensuelle.

J‑Silk, a Bor­deaux-Lon­don ‘Future Soul’ trio, released their second EP on March 30^th 2018. They are part of the cur­rent music scene that fuses hip-hop, pop and elec­tro; think of The Inter­net, Ander­son Paak, Little Dragon, James Blake and the like. J‑Silk is a Neo-Soul col­lage of vin­tage Adi­das jack­ets, ana­logue syn­thes­izers, hip-hop beats and an excep­tion­al, sen­su­al voice.

Marta Cas­cales Alimbau (ES)

Marta est une pian­is­te et com­positrice pro­fes­sion­nelle ori­gin­aire de Bar­celone. Son objec­tif prin­cip­al est de créer un réper­toire de piano comme instru­ment prin­cip­al et de s’intéress­er de près à la musique pour des install­a­tions de danse, de film et d’art. Avec un fond de musique classique mais une vis­ion mod­erne, elle essaie de trouver de nou­velles formes d’ex­pres­sions musicales, pren­ant la musique comme moy­en de com­mu­nic­a­tion. Sa musique mêle des élé­ments de com­pos­iteurs légendaires tels que Bach & Debussy, tout en apport­ant des influ­ences d’ar­tistes classiques mod­ernes comme Ólafur Arnalds et Max Richter. Son premi­er album, Lihgt-House EP (2017), est sorti chez Piano and Cof­fee Records. Elle trav­aille actuelle­ment à son deux­ième album, prévu pour 2019.

Marta Cas­cales Alimbau is a pian­ist and com­poser from Bar­celona, with a Clas­sic­al Music back­ground but a mod­ern approach. Her music blends ele­ments of legendary com­posers such as Bach & Debussy while also brings influ­ences of mod­ern clas­sic­al artists like Ólafur Arnalds and Max Richter. Marta under­stands music as a way of com­mu­nic­a­tion and expres­sion. She tells stor­ies through the piano and takes you to dif­fer­ent places, emo­tions and sen­sa­tions. Her debut album Light-House (Piano & Cof­fee Records, 2017), led her to keep record­ing and releas­ing her music, now signed with the NYC label Son­der House. She is cur­rently work­ing on her second album titled Anoche, to be released by the end of 2019.

Mar­tin Balt­ser (DK)

Le musi­cien danois Mar­tin Balt­ser joue de l’élec­tro-folk. Un amour pour les hommes et les paroles trans­parais­sent et entraîn­ent son pub­lic dans un voy­age à la fois fra­gile et mag­ni­fique, appuyé par le fal­setto du musi­cien. Le premi­er single «Call Me Wild» a attiré l’at­ten­tion du monde enti­er et a atteint 300 000 clics sur Spo­ti­fy en un an. Depuis, la musique a été reprise par MTV Asia, de nom­breuses playl­ists inter­na­tionales, un groupe de danse de L.A. et la radio alle­mande. «Pensez au nou­veau cadre de musique folk­lorique mar­qué par la touche de marque de Bon Iver, mélangez-le avec une approche mod­erne à plusieurs couches et com­plétez l’offre avec un superbe fal­setto» — Wearegoingsolo.com

Mar­tin Balt­ser is an elec­tro-folk artist based in Aar­hus, Den­mark. His first album ’The Waste­land Incid­ent’ was released in Septem­ber 2018. The first single ‘Call Me Wild’ got world­wide atten­tion and have reached 300.000 clicks on Spo­ti­fy. Since that the music has been picked by MTV Asia, Ger­man radio like NDR2, inter­na­tion­al playl­ists, and big music magazines like Akustik Gitarre and Ton­s­pi­on. In 2018 the world cham­pi­on Ran Ravnik danced to a song from the album in Los Angeles. Since 2017 the band has played many shows, among oth­ers at SPOT Fest­iv­al (DK), Norden Fest­iv­al (DE).

Simone Tang (DK)

Au moment où elle a été acceptée à la Roy­al Academy of Music en tant qu’auteur-com­pos­iteur en 2015, Simone Tang avait déjà vendu plusieurs com­pos­i­tions musicales à des films nationaux et étrangers, et avait joué en tant qu’ac­com­pag­natrice pour des artistes tels que MiC LOWRY., Erik Hassle, Loyle Carner et Sara Hart­mann. L’an­née dernière, Simone a joué dans les fest­ivals danois Smuk­fest et SPOT, et a été chois­ie comme tal­ent danois émer­gent pour le célèbre fest­iv­al de show­case The Great Escape en Ang­le­terre. Simone Tang a sorti son premi­er single «Shame» en avril, écrit et produit par elle-même, dif­fusé plus de 196 000 fois, puis son deux­ième “Smil­ing” en septembre 2019.

In her rel­at­ively short career as a song­writer, she has already sold sev­er­al com­pos­i­tions for film scores, for both domest­ic and for­eign movies. While most Danes might remem­ber her for her role in the dan­ish fea­ture film “Aching Hearts” by Nils Malm­ros’, for Simone Tang it is music that has been the focus for the past sev­er­al years. By the time she was accep­ted into the Roy­al Academy of Music as a song­writer back in 2015, she had already played as a sup­port­ing act for artists such as MiC LOWRY, Erik Hassle, Loyle Carner and Sara Hartmann.
Last year, Simone was announced as an artist at Dan­ish fest­ivals Smuk­fest and SPOT, as well as being chosen as the Dan­ish up-and-com­ing tal­ent to play at renowned show­case fest­iv­al The Great Escape in Eng­land. Simone Tang released her first single “Shame” in april, writ­ten and pro­duced by her­self, which cur­rently has streamed over 196.000 times. Simone releases her 2n’d single “Smil­ing” in septem­ber 2019.
